That means that end-users can power PoE capable devices without separate power supplies or electrical outlets near the powered device.</div></div><p>There are different types of PoE technology. Some PoE just provides active PoE and others provide passive. If you want to know more about the difference between active PoE and passive PoE, you can read this article.</p><p><b>What Is Active PoE?</b></p><p>Active PoE works according to a set standard specification: IEEE802.3af, IEEE802.3at, IEEE802.3bt. These are highly compatible standards. The compliant devices will complete a “power handshaking” with the PoE power supply at low power. If the power handshaking is successful, the device will negotiate the power needed and power up fully. If the handshake fails, the power supply will not deliver any power and the device will not turn on. </p><p><b>What Is an Active PoE Switch?</b></p><div><div>The standard/active <a href="https://www.fastcabling.com/product-category/unmanaged-poe-switch/" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">POE switch</span></a> is a PoE control chip that is built-in. It will send power to a powered device, then wait for stable transmission. If the device is disconnected, the POE switch will stop supplying power and try to detect it again.</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcwBFf5VbLjZ25AzepDujYz4yeqm6bPQ8LNfpLLfefQYomp-UA0PBlvQsKU7d4NPTNodYxDR1FEu49ytxzaZ549S_n_5Nbh2Fe28s04fdleAD1zsGuLmJf7buOo8YFtjdqM1kDLsr9CcXciUiqgkKbf5m5cWcUgi8bd0lHfqUadPURZpmaANVaxQ_Lrw/s640/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcwBFf5VbLjZ25AzepDujYz4yeqm6bPQ8LNfpLLfefQYomp-UA0PBlvQsKU7d4NPTNodYxDR1FEu49ytxzaZ549S_n_5Nbh2Fe28s04fdleAD1zsGuLmJf7buOo8YFtjdqM1kDLsr9CcXciUiqgkKbf5m5cWcUgi8bd0lHfqUadPURZpmaANVaxQ_Lrw/s16000/1.jpg" /></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Another similar product is the standard/active<a href="https://www.fastcabling.com/product-category/poe-injector/" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;"> PoE injector</span></a>. The PoE injector doesn't provide switching function. It simply injects the power to the Ethernet cable and sends it together with data to the edge device. It is a handy tool to turn non-PoE switch or routers into PoE compatible equipment.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It is safe for standard PoE switch to work with non-PoE devices such as PC computers because of the power handshaking. The POE switch will only send the data without power when the non-PoE device is attached to the standard PoE switch.</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><b>What Is Passive PoE?</b></div><div><br /></div><div>Passive Power Over Ethernet, or passive POE, is a type of power input to Ethernet cable that does not require power handshaking. It’s very important to understand the specifications of your device and make sure it requires the same type of POE as the input you are going to provide. For example, many CCTV cameras are passive POE but they need a 12v power supply using either a DC power balun or passive POE injector. However, there are more expensive POE cameras that have an active POE handshake and will negotiate with the switch for the correct input. The same can be said for PoE access points, which require a passive 24v power supply.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKc_p2NdqYo57TPwmNpxOn333JZtsAslhU-1DnE0zj1VcxTU5SifOkernWTuLzPtTcfQjO_PtUS_RWsS6WA753jEqfa2xv9LTkdorYOHDpGP-o69zIaTjT1zn2Tsw0Xb72jDxM6GDQ69IT_Khfm-CdZTvBU1G25oxVOOLPF1J7ivchk57oXsKqgp4JZg/s800/%E5%9B%BE2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="450" data-original-width="800" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKc_p2NdqYo57TPwmNpxOn333JZtsAslhU-1DnE0zj1VcxTU5SifOkernWTuLzPtTcfQjO_PtUS_RWsS6WA753jEqfa2xv9LTkdorYOHDpGP-o69zIaTjT1zn2Tsw0Xb72jDxM6GDQ69IT_Khfm-CdZTvBU1G25oxVOOLPF1J7ivchk57oXsKqgp4JZg/w640-h360/%E5%9B%BE2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><b>What Is Passive PoE Switch?</b></div><div><br /></div><div>Non-standard/ Passive POE switches come with safety hazards. They don’t come with a POE control chip, so they can’t tell the difference between PoE cameras and other devices. This can result in transient voltages and may burn out any device connected to it. The price of non-standard PoE switches is cheaper, but you risk sending too much voltage to your devices. Please be aware that passive non-standard PoE switches deliver power without negotiation. If you aren’t sure how to install one of these, we recommend considering a standard PoE switch with active PoE control to prevent the potential hazards. All of the recommendations below are based on a standard PoE switch.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Active PoE Switch vs Passive PoE Switch: The Key Differences</b></div><div><br /></div><div>Passive PoE switches deliver power over Ethernet cables, but they don’t comply with any IEEE standard. Active PoE switches, on the other hand, are compliant with IEEE standards, and there is a difference in the power supply pins of these two types of PoE switches. If safety is your top priority, you should use an active PoE switch; if you have a limited budget and cost is your main concern, a passive one might be a better choice.</div><div><br /></div><div><div><b>Security camera systems: Active PoE Switch vs Passive PoE Switch</b></div><div><br /></div><div>Active PoE: In this case, IP cameras will not turn on unless it completes a handshake between the PoE power supply and the device. If the handshake isn't approved, then the camera won't turn on.</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8n8A6MoVRhfB5NY47ReMYbwyr3ewBJFv_Vh754sNHzsDRo_WIirCQ0oNcvfqsNEh1XoWS75EBT8LLP46EUDz29E_qjoIObn3Q9NVAG5xwZPT_bGhe7674f7d05gVX_BZ4svXYjoYXw6WB_BPkm_bei3VReuuBJSRfI0TVJmQzq7U2Vm4QXs9yOftaww/s800/%E5%9B%BE3.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="450" data-original-width="800" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8n8A6MoVRhfB5NY47ReMYbwyr3ewBJFv_Vh754sNHzsDRo_WIirCQ0oNcvfqsNEh1XoWS75EBT8LLP46EUDz29E_qjoIObn3Q9NVAG5xwZPT_bGhe7674f7d05gVX_BZ4svXYjoYXw6WB_BPkm_bei3VReuuBJSRfI0TVJmQzq7U2Vm4QXs9yOftaww/w640-h360/%E5%9B%BE3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><div>Passive PoE: When using passive PoE, the camera will turn on regardless of its power parameters. Since there's no power handshaking, you may risk burning out the camera if it's receiving a higher voltage than it can handle.</div><div><br /></div><div>Cost: Active PoE Switch vs Passive PoE Switch</div><div><br /></div><div>The cost of an active PoE switch differs from the passive PoE switch mainly because the active PoE switch has a built-in power controller, which the passive one does not. This means that the passive PoE switch relies on information from outside sources to detect and classify the PD (power demand) system. As a result, it’s not surprising that the active PoE switch costs more than the passive PoE switch.</div></div><div><br /></div><div><div><b>Active PoE Switch vs Passive PoE Switch: Which is the Better Choice for Your Network?</b></div><div><br /></div><div>One way to keep your network safe is by using a PoE switch. We suggest active PoE switches because they can detect power wiring issues and help prevent accidents. We may also use passive PoE switches if cost is a concern, but be aware that they do not have any power detection function. It is important to make sure the passive PoE switch you buy matches the power specifications exactly to the device you are powering on, otherwise you can easily damage your device. Finally, it’s never okay to connect computers and other non-PoE devices to the passive PoE switch. Burglary also names as home invasion. The unlawful enters with the intent to commit the theft. The owner return home and find the door was open, property were missing. Usually they call the police officer. Without witness or useful evidence, the case may take weeks even months with no luck.<br />
<br />
Install security camera is the common practices to collect evidence in case burglary may happen. However, the burglary can easily make out your camera. Then find the way to bypass your security system. The visible camera is also signaled of 'valuables inside' for burglars.<br />
<br />
What can we have rather than visible security camera. The below video demonstrates how to deploy the <u><a href="https://www.i4spycamera.com/product/pir-hidden-spy-camera/" target="_blank">hidden camera inside PIR sensor</a></u>. Without knowing the camera, it can get solid and hard evidence in burglary senses. The camera can even work with external invisible infrared to light up the sense at night.<br />

Most of the burglars prefer break in at noon or after lunch, because most of the owner should be gone or the kids still stay at school by then. Secure the lock strike plate, close the windows are the first steps to improve your home security. However the burglars may still find the way to break in anyway. Install a security camera is the second defense line for burglary. <a href="http://blog.golbong.com/2017/08/choose-ip-based-hidden-camera-to.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Choose an unusual IP based hidden camera</span></a> rather than regular CCTV camera.<br />
<br />
The burglars could easily make out the visible CCTV camera. Avoiding the shooting direction or keep their head down, they will beat your camera. Visible cameras are also signaled ‘there were valuables inside’ in burglar’s mind. After breaking in, they will relax their vigilance and start looking for value stuff. That is the big chance for hidden camera to record the proof of burglary unexpectedly.<br />

<span lang="EN-US">Do you know your CCTV system may not be working as you expect when the burglars break in? CCTV surveillance system has reached HD level in these few years. Most of the cameras are able to capture high definition image. However, the burglars also can bypass your cameras easily starting from avoiding the shooting direction. Simple keep the head down, the camera could miss the facial detail. In the home break-in case, the burglars will even find your recorder and take away all the footage. Deploying a hidden camera can improve your home security dramatically. The hidden camera is hidden somewhere in your house without drawing attention. It creates response time for owner to make proactive action plan after the burglars break in. Even you have installed the CCTV surveillance system, it still has significant value to add some hidden cameras. Keeping the hidden camera separately from your main system is necessarily in case the burglars may locate the recorder eventually. The hidden camera is your second insurance policy after the main system is compromised. How to choose hidden camera today? Here some tips to know after IP technology adds on. </div>

1.<span style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Maintain Covert - Hidden cameras always hide inside some objects at your home, like the radio clock, Flower, PIR sensor. You will need to select the product which is easy to blend into your environment. The shooting direction is the next thing to be concerned. Most of the hidden camera doesn't allow adjusting the shooting direction. If you install the camera on too high or too low position, it will only capture the head or foot instead of the facial detail, like radio clock. The PIR sensor hidden camera is a good solution for home security. PIR sensor is always installed behind the door, similar as CCTV camera. More important, when the burglars see the PIR sensor, they will think it has alarm system in this house and withdraw. Without knowing camera hidden inside, <u><a href="https://www.i4spycamera.com/product/pir-hidden-spy-camera/" target="_blank">camera hidden inside PIR sensor</a></u> has high possibility to catch burglar's facial detail. </div>

These cameras will wake up when the built-in sensor detect the people moving around, otherwise the camera just keeps 'sleeping'. This design is used to save the battery power. However, if this camera is deployed in your living room, you are walking around everyday. The camera could lose battery pretty soon, because the camera needs to keep starting up/off. Later you need to deal with the 'no power' issue. Moreover checking this camera remotely with app maybe not possible some times. The night vision is required and it has to be invisible. However, the power of invisible Infrared is weak, only around 50-60% power of visible Infrared. Built the small Infrared LEDs around the camera will not generate the fair image. One of the solutions is using external high power invisible illuminator to light up the whole area. Separating the invisible LEDs also protects the hidden camera from being detected. The invisible Infrared still can be easily discovered by a phone's camera.</div>

The WIFI cameras eliminate the cabling over sky or underground. However, WIFI signal has limited range of distance. Understanding what can strengthen and weaken a WIFI signal will help you get a good quality of surveillance video. The following solutions can tell how to get the better WIFI signal.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>Barriers Affect Wireless Signal</b><br />
<b><br />
</b> WIFI can spread in a certain range in the open area, up to 180 meters, but if the signal need to goes through a wall before arriving at the router, the WIFI signal will drop 40-50%. Pass two walls make the signal even worse.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH3ylCvK1x24u6H7hSD2M_LN-zX8nZohuO9cm8ijMW-_YKs8V1xpGEqH5TXwLGzPKdgZjAktBBbERywUomlLnOyYyxA8dHhGU1pXOfTMeKVSFT2aqXB53qYqUHj430sgCU3zbT79uxC8jm/s1600/QQ%25E5%259B%25BE%25E7%2589%258720170825145914.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="251" data-original-width="600" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH3ylCvK1x24u6H7hSD2M_LN-zX8nZohuO9cm8ijMW-_YKs8V1xpGEqH5TXwLGzPKdgZjAktBBbERywUomlLnOyYyxA8dHhGU1pXOfTMeKVSFT2aqXB53qYqUHj430sgCU3zbT79uxC8jm/s640/QQ%25E5%259B%25BE%25E7%2589%258720170825145914.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<b>Quick Tips for Extending WIFI Signal</b><br />
<b><br />
</b> Fortunately, here we have a couple of advices may help.<br />
<br />
<b>1.<span style="white-space: pre;"> </span>PoE Solution</b><br />
<b><br />
</b> Choose the wire connection, such as PoE solution in CCTV surveillance project instead of WIFI unless the cabling is difficult.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>2.<span style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Get rid of the obstacles</b><br />
<b><br />
</b> WIFI need an open area. Avoid the strong obstacles between the camera and WIFI router is the golden rule. As we known, WIFI signal will drop down seriously after it passes through the obstacles. Get rid of the obstacles must be considered no matter for indoor or outdoor installation. WIFI can provide reliable connection in the open area, but not over obstacles.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>3.<span style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Use WIFI Bridge</b><br />
WIFI Bridge may be a good choice if the distance is too far from the WIFI router. The bridge can extend the signal up to 20 KM. Normally the WIFI bridge work in pair. The receiver needs to face to the transmitter. Wireless bridge is used for outdoor, mainly connecting two networks, but we can replace one side to our IP camera and reach long wireless distance.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN7egCV5UgiQC9VryWCfNCC_W55RZcfjS_josIU2_BWT9f4XD7nTwVcEaRtiB-lCeXwguNZd2wuvZpFFZk3ftuKnlX0MGeP4BEqmJ_3Ebboij3ZJsJbOwazok7LbEyKBqB1jPEoehruZEV/s1600/WIFI+BRIDGE.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="312" data-original-width="1134" height="176" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN7egCV5UgiQC9VryWCfNCC_W55RZcfjS_josIU2_BWT9f4XD7nTwVcEaRtiB-lCeXwguNZd2wuvZpFFZk3ftuKnlX0MGeP4BEqmJ_3Ebboij3ZJsJbOwazok7LbEyKBqB1jPEoehruZEV/s640/WIFI+BRIDGE.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<b>4.<span style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Set up WIFI repeater</b><br />
<b><br />
</b> If the large obstacle is unavoidable, we will need a WIFI repeater. It is used to extend the WIFI network coverage. The repeater receives the signal from the router and transmits it further. In the CCTV installation, the WIFI repeater can make the signal pass around the obstacles and reach the router.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaKPmTnZuGYNTQS0Dzsi847jsKtbNkH0Fx6KbB8vtGhrbI6GtGHv7uSELRcMpXVtx8wDp90lLlrAX-49zMqVPrFOqNSyxxFAWZ5HkCpXWPJNleBkxEP3kHymFvyyN-FDFlgDbP-SRWUSVD/s1600/%25E4%25B8%25AD%25E7%25BB%25A7%25E4%25BE%25A7%25E9%259D%25A2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaKPmTnZuGYNTQS0Dzsi847jsKtbNkH0Fx6KbB8vtGhrbI6GtGHv7uSELRcMpXVtx8wDp90lLlrAX-49zMqVPrFOqNSyxxFAWZ5HkCpXWPJNleBkxEP3kHymFvyyN-FDFlgDbP-SRWUSVD/s400/%25E4%25B8%25AD%25E7%25BB%25A7%25E4%25BE%25A7%25E9%259D%25A2.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<b>5.<span style="white-space: pre;"> </span>Dedicated WIFI Camera NVR</b><br />
<b><br />
</b> If the above tips can’t deliver the satisfied result, we can consider the dedicated WIFI camera NVR. The dedicated camera and NVR has better signal range than WIFI camera and router solution. More important, we can place the WIFI NVR to the best position to receive the signal from all WIFI cameras. In the open area like the factory or farm, dedicated WIFI camera NVR can take care of the problem of dealing with the sky cabling.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH8XGCc-iSxwqTHZt_klAUqM0HQMTvnXW43rVFmU0Ekgntfxtqm5PLkwGxji0-HRAdS8CcfbKwSH6eBJ77-rcB7qjgn2KLmD8oLbvbxOi9nUOm2uZp8h3nTe-9dwZPYQ2FcEfIT7t3sDrc/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="254" data-original-width="800" height="202" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH8XGCc-iSxwqTHZt_klAUqM0HQMTvnXW43rVFmU0Ekgntfxtqm5PLkwGxji0-HRAdS8CcfbKwSH6eBJ77-rcB7qjgn2KLmD8oLbvbxOi9nUOm2uZp8h3nTe-9dwZPYQ2FcEfIT7t3sDrc/s640/5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<b>6.<span style="white-space: pre;"> </span>WIFI Receiver</b><br />
<b><br />
</b> The WIFI receiver device can be installed outdoor, receives video from different WIFI IP cameras and bring the video back to a router or NVR via cable connection. The wall penetration is done with the cable connection instead of WIFI.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy6Eydv8p9mD9Rx4CwslEE6JdhxzcOiljO_J-EaIR7d63Lgdtf9DcSyYvozFYzayR7_phTIJPWWDIXSliNDt7F__qGYLSr_WEU17fRHwgXRlJiBjqwVGWTkbOzhGDwZtzYTMl8c06DS-64/s1600/1.wifinvr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="322" data-original-width="700" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy6Eydv8p9mD9Rx4CwslEE6JdhxzcOiljO_J-EaIR7d63Lgdtf9DcSyYvozFYzayR7_phTIJPWWDIXSliNDt7F__qGYLSr_WEU17fRHwgXRlJiBjqwVGWTkbOzhGDwZtzYTMl8c06DS-64/s640/1.wifinvr.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

"The wireless is not stable", people always say to WIFI. Technically, it is not about the 'stable'. The WIFI signal will drop down 30-50 % once it penetrates a wall. If the signal needs to go through several walls in the scene, the WIFI cameras could face serious signal dropping. Another thing is the WIFI camera still requires power, it is not really wireless.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4Bi1nwvSISyyIqSPBTUC94v-uXftOZEXXraCzU_279CrMT5YWfnJ7bB0JEmbKiJB-CkmD4VEYIwmz42P-gfgnhK5Cps8a7ac6TyhsOMH6zlbq-2WjMrZ9hHdpXjIMc7N21EaY3lqpZ-VT/s1600/internal+walls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="478" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4Bi1nwvSISyyIqSPBTUC94v-uXftOZEXXraCzU_279CrMT5YWfnJ7bB0JEmbKiJB-CkmD4VEYIwmz42P-gfgnhK5Cps8a7ac6TyhsOMH6zlbq-2WjMrZ9hHdpXjIMc7N21EaY3lqpZ-VT/s1600/internal+walls.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
What is the value of WIFI camera NVR? Firstly let's take a look at the picture below. The red spot is the place we would like to install CCTV camera. The blue area is the empty without facility. With PoE solution, we would have to be cabling over the sky in the blue area. Those make the installation difficult and ugly. In the open area like the farm or factory, we always could see the similar sense. The cables have to either go over the sky or underground. The WIFI camera NVR could provide better solution in this sense.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj58M2vR6s33TkuiqId9jjEOdJx4JX8HEuDTKxWqyuen5r-BUFahpf82saeSjob-JArSba2eyxLGyLRDDcOEBvBSHmOul0cCEcj9j_kSlVPCbxRp65XH3lcli8veHtvayNZplNRaFnh3QIn/s1600/%25E5%2585%25A8%25E6%2599%25AF.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="317" data-original-width="1000" height="202" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj58M2vR6s33TkuiqId9jjEOdJx4JX8HEuDTKxWqyuen5r-BUFahpf82saeSjob-JArSba2eyxLGyLRDDcOEBvBSHmOul0cCEcj9j_kSlVPCbxRp65XH3lcli8veHtvayNZplNRaFnh3QIn/s640/%25E5%2585%25A8%25E6%2599%25AF.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The WIFI camera doesn't need to be cabling back to the NVR, so no need to deal with the sky cabling here. The transmission distance is not the problem. The WIFI can reach 120 meters distance in open area. The challenge is the wall. If we place the WIFI NVR inside the building, the signal needs to penetrate at least one, even two walls before arriving at the NVR. The signal could be dropping sharply. We can use the WIFI receiver to settle this issue. The WIFI receiver is the device which can install outside, receive the video from different WIFI IP cameras and return back to an NVR with cable connection. After we deploy the WIFI receiver, the wall penetration takes a cable connection instead of wireless signal. The power is not the issue in this sense, each building has available power.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSQwK1Ph86KKbMmchixHlIXoriRQ1FEsqUxvsJguIp4TtCgyW6npv4Xx_Fj86RAvtQVxsHRskKjO2bYsm-xBGOkomQYExE1oWbEM6XNkj8_FgRFcxRnY9isrwuDvM3GaXDXRi0oVG3d2yD/s1600/1.wifinvr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="322" data-original-width="700" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSQwK1Ph86KKbMmchixHlIXoriRQ1FEsqUxvsJguIp4TtCgyW6npv4Xx_Fj86RAvtQVxsHRskKjO2bYsm-xBGOkomQYExE1oWbEM6XNkj8_FgRFcxRnY9isrwuDvM3GaXDXRi0oVG3d2yD/s1600/1.wifinvr.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The key to deploy the WIFI camera NVR is trying everything possible to avoid the WIFI penetration over the wall. In the above case, we use a receiver. Can we simply move the WIFI NVR outsider to receive the signal? It is properly not a good idea. The hard driver will turn into issue once we move the recorder outdoor. The limited operation temperature of hard driver is around 55 degree. Data could be losing, even shorten use life when the temperature rise up to the limit. That is why we can see it always has cooling system in the data center to control temperature for hard drive. With sunshine, the temperature will arrive at 55 degree very quickly inside the NVR.<br />
<br />
In the practical application, we can even integrate both WIFI and PoE with a receiver. The NVR will connect all the cameras in the network, both from wire or PoE. WIFI camera NVR can eliminate the cabling deployment in the open area, just try to avoid wall penetrate. The solution will be working fine.<br />

Do you know we also can have secondary online backup your CCTV video in case the primary recording system go failed. There are three ways to play.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b>Edge Recording</b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The camera can keep recording on board as well as streaming back to your NVR recorder. Edge recording requires TF memory card installed in each of the cameras. As the TF memory card has limited storage, like 128G, we need to configure a recording plan to achieve longer recording time in the camera. The motion recording is the most common practical implement. Initial the recording only when the motion is detected on the scene. It can double up even triple up the recording time. The new technology H.264+ compression can help to save 30-40 percentage storage space from the TF memory card. It isolates the background from the sense and receives high compression rate without compromised the image quality. If both setup properly, 128G TF memory card will record over 30 days footage on board. TF memory card is the cost effective and reliable solution to backup the video online. Each of the camera is recording independently. Unless the whole system goes failed, you will have footage on some specific cameras.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="text-align: center;">FTP uploading</b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="text-align: center;">FTP upload requires an online FTP server. Most of the storage devices such as NAS has provided you a FTP server. You can either upload footage from the IP camera or the NVR. One thing important, the ftp upload function normally requires alarm event as trigger. That means the system only will start uploading when one or two alarm events are detected, such as motion detected, external alarm detected. The IP camera or NVR will not continue uploading the snapshot or video to your ftp server. The snapshot or video will keep in your ftp folder, it can be backup for as long as you want.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSzrNWV0xsa9jbKG7sa4O1Jp5V4XO0248JVjv-Gkw6fRcRVyPm-E9M4fw6q8_gTiZA32T7nDDIba8PmGNcuBU5OSaaKPZmM3RsNEJWPQv-x5U9VHfpwChCTqoAVgK9c2RiIeKptfOkGlMG/s1600/QQ%25E5%259B%25BE%25E7%2589%258720170526140955.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="392" data-original-width="660" height="380" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSzrNWV0xsa9jbKG7sa4O1Jp5V4XO0248JVjv-Gkw6fRcRVyPm-E9M4fw6q8_gTiZA32T7nDDIba8PmGNcuBU5OSaaKPZmM3RsNEJWPQv-x5U9VHfpwChCTqoAVgK9c2RiIeKptfOkGlMG/s640/QQ%25E5%259B%25BE%25E7%2589%258720170526140955.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Email backup</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;">We can simple create an email to receive the notification with snapshot from your IP camera. Remember only the IP camera can send the email with snapshot. The NVR will send the simple text email. Most of the email provider has policy. Too many false alarms will generate too much email sending to your account, which could violate the policy and cause your email account to be locked by your provider. We need to customize the motion detection to make the email notification as accurate as</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;">possible. Another solution is we could connect the camera to an external alarm such as door contact or PIR sensor, the email notification will be more accurate. Only these external alarm devices are triggered will make the camera send you an email.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;"><br />
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;">Redundant backup is your second plan to make sure the footage is available when the criminal case happens in the scene. Like what we said before, you never know how important until you need it. </span></div>

In the CCTV application, should we also choose a camera with ultra high resolution like 12-megapixel? We do want the footage getting as much detail as possible. However, most of CCTV cameras are installed on the scenes and expected to be working in 24/7. The low light condition is a big challenge. Without enough light, the ultra high resolution feature just will turn into liability at night. Why? Simple increase the resolution without increase the size of the CMOS sensor can compromise the camera's sensitivity, because the size of each pixel needs to be smaller since the pixel increasing. Image there is room with fixed space, if we want to fit in more person, we need to pick the smaller one. The second consequence is the gaps between each pixel will increase sharply. The gaps are one of the reasons we see noises at night. The ultra high resolution did get great snapshot in the ideal environment under good light condition. Once it changes to low light condition on the scenes, the result goes otherwise.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix9jTae8Z01VzNPd4UZNfIBE98pWNbkt256ZImONjkF4iZMgW4sHUBmcqBGGSOPFxWoYybpB4KCUHUQZhzSQeaq_skVi6YSrZruLPGrYC8yHu-9tIdsreK8iX42cj9RFluykMLGAbpZWks/s1600/VS3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="375" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix9jTae8Z01VzNPd4UZNfIBE98pWNbkt256ZImONjkF4iZMgW4sHUBmcqBGGSOPFxWoYybpB4KCUHUQZhzSQeaq_skVi6YSrZruLPGrYC8yHu-9tIdsreK8iX42cj9RFluykMLGAbpZWks/s640/VS3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The second challenge is the interested person could be moving. They don't stand still and say “hello” to your camera. Moving object capturing capability doesn't relative to the pixel rate. Here is the video.</span><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Wvl7ggonaUA" width="560"></iframe><br /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">We can simple use zoom lens to make the camera seeing clear. Yes, it trades off between the field of view and image detail. As long as the camera can cover the interested area, it will be fine. </span><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TaU2WWH4eko" width="560"></iframe><br /></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><b>Should we choose the camera with high power LEDs built-in? </b></span></span><br />
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">That is properly not a good idea. We can find many cameras with high power LEDs in the market. It is the simple solution to boost the camera's sensitivity, but the high power LEDs will generate serious heat and shorten the use life of the camera. Frankly speaking it likes cooking a computer in a small closed space - The ip camera is a small computer with CPU and memory. We know even the home PC still require fans to let out the heat. The higher power Infrared LEDs also will make the image fuzzy. The focus of infrared is not the same as visible light, which mean camera's focus point will switch when it sees the mass Infrared. The camera getting perfect focus on day just will become a little bit fuzzy at night with infrared projecting. The stronger Infrared, the more serious the fuzzy will be.</span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To resolve this issue, we can choose camera with Infrared corrected lens, then add external Infrared or just choose the camera with better sensitivity, such as color night vision.</span></span></div>
<br />

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><b>Should we use Power over Ethernet (POE)? </b></span></span><br />
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The power is one of the important things for any of electronic products. Clean power can make the camera running stable. PoE already approved to be an efficient solution in the industrial. In the IEEE802.3 PoE standard, PoE switch will start releasing small current to the camera then increase the current until it detects the camera is ready to accept the full power. The POE doesn't only make the setup easy (remove the 110/220AC power cable) but also make the power system clean and stable. Just one thing, don't choose PoE which is not compatible with IEEE 802.3. It makes the power system unstable, and easy to create surge in your power system.</span></span><br />

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span lang="EN-US">If you are able to manage wire in your application,
don't even think of the wireless. It is always more stable with wire. Also,
most of the wireless still requires power cable to each camera. "It is not
real wireless" people always say this to wireless camera. However,
wireless still has advantage in some special application which is easier to
gain the power, such as home or farm. You may need to make holes thru the thick
wall or need a long cabling in order to wire back to your recorder. When we
choose wireless solution, try to use the wireless NVR as well. You can’t move
your existed router, but you can move your wireless NVR to the position which
has optimal signal to all the cameras.</span></span></span></div>

We see the CCTV cameras setup around convenience, stores, restaurant, office, hotel, even the house. Here is the question: does the video surveillance system really work as we expected when crime happens unfortunately? The below we have several tips to make your video surveillance system strong rather than vulnerable to the criminal.<br />
<br />
<b>Tips 1</b><br />
<a href="https://www.i4spycamera.com/shop/" target="_blank">Protect your CCTV cameras.</a> Most of the CCTV cameras are installed around the perimeter. The burglar will try to disable the cameras before they enter your property. Select the dome type cameras which are not easy to change the shooting direction. If burglars change the shooting direction to the sky, the camera turns to be useless. You also can install the camera higher. However it needs to put the camera shooting closed to eye level rather than the head of a person.<br />
The camera should install a little bit far from watching slot with narrow angle lens. 6-22mm varifcoal lens camera will be fine. Last thing is putting a tube to protect cable and connection from cutting off.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihEKY-CfKT-HQNf0k73HDvt9ADqeE_XRDU7hK90lZMw2tlTdcIIs74ZyksyM9SD7ReLjrziYAxoLsKMvUtdIPhbR7k0Vt35R5JAQbkete-dTZgYVKgltaLTsVszEnCXWs3jr_XAek8cbqK/s1600/bullet-camer-dome-camera.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihEKY-CfKT-HQNf0k73HDvt9ADqeE_XRDU7hK90lZMw2tlTdcIIs74ZyksyM9SD7ReLjrziYAxoLsKMvUtdIPhbR7k0Vt35R5JAQbkete-dTZgYVKgltaLTsVszEnCXWs3jr_XAek8cbqK/s1600/bullet-camer-dome-camera.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Tips 2 </b><br />
What if the criminals manage to disable the whole system? Or your system is already there, you just don't want anybody to touch it. You still can configure the 'video loss' function to notify you in your NVR (network video recorder). Once NVR detects the video loss in a channel, it will send an email or push message to your smart phone, alert you one of your cameras is dis-connected. Generally speaking, making sure your cameras are always working is the first step.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXjSwyDmASKn5m6iIsUlbPDvRf67j8JhliK3DfGYWizvjAOI3iHjJ9AGLPuWomw4pgbSGtdFchpHFb3Ef0hG6UFuQ3ISkcEnNVyF7LAYUinYQA12tOCQOQ0EvZKF4ZXFu0CiF4InODNBGM/s1600/video-loss-recording.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXjSwyDmASKn5m6iIsUlbPDvRf67j8JhliK3DfGYWizvjAOI3iHjJ9AGLPuWomw4pgbSGtdFchpHFb3Ef0hG6UFuQ3ISkcEnNVyF7LAYUinYQA12tOCQOQ0EvZKF4ZXFu0CiF4InODNBGM/s640/video-loss-recording.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Tips 3</b><br />
<a href="https://www.i4spycamera.com/view-live-hidden-security-camera-on-your-mobile-phone/" target="_blank">Checking the camera footage regularly.</a> Some of the crimes happen at random, but some are not. Checking the footage may discover the suspect before bad things happen. However watching footage is boring and time consuming processing, It could take you 1-2 hours to watch 8 hours footage. You can enable the motion recording to save your watching time. I knew people always say motion detection generates false alarm from pets, light even wind. Here we only use motion detection to highlight the footage with motion, so it can help us locate the interested footage fast. It doesn't matter the false alarm, you still can save plenty of time. Simple enable the motion recording will make it work. Then you only need to review the footage with red tag.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmQqys6VjGaKOY1Jv6pSNzbwMGrvIK9slChZaivvcRc33vFDf8IrCl_8wxZ40UT9Nfv8HGaq7d7fN-EABlpuRBT1xyneFGZThmtIU4mXvFNbGXFg8WzKR3DhNhyphenhyphenzrFd-bbauzXKCrfYhZN/s1600/motion-recording.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmQqys6VjGaKOY1Jv6pSNzbwMGrvIK9slChZaivvcRc33vFDf8IrCl_8wxZ40UT9Nfv8HGaq7d7fN-EABlpuRBT1xyneFGZThmtIU4mXvFNbGXFg8WzKR3DhNhyphenhyphenzrFd-bbauzXKCrfYhZN/s1600/motion-recording.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Tips 4 </b><br />
Connect IP camera to an external sensor, such as door contact or PIR sensor. The <a href="https://www.i4spycamera.com/real-time-person-detection-not-just-motion-detection-having-peace-of-mind-while-youre-away/" target="_blank">motion detection</a> can generate the alarm trigger. However it is easy to create false alarm like we mentioned above. If the alarm is not accurate, we will start not trusting the notification very soon. We need an external alarm device such as door contact or PIR sensor to generate accurate alarm. If your IP camera supports external alarm input. You can connect a door contact to the camera and configure the camera to send you an email when the door is open. This is especially useful when you are out of town. You can simple disable alarm notification on the recorder after return.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbwfzckqPGwPVpTPdHuA7IoOB-80jM9Q-FHjUNlGV0uQhJMXLswOsC0X0VcIT585BqdxOBzHcyLHFgeJ0P1DOR8qmbrMpTH59hGZVSc9r5HkvOLsSgRSzM52nlBbMmBZs6DILrAbQS7wx6/s1600/alarm+device+connect+to+cctv.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbwfzckqPGwPVpTPdHuA7IoOB-80jM9Q-FHjUNlGV0uQhJMXLswOsC0X0VcIT585BqdxOBzHcyLHFgeJ0P1DOR8qmbrMpTH59hGZVSc9r5HkvOLsSgRSzM52nlBbMmBZs6DILrAbQS7wx6/s1600/alarm+device+connect+to+cctv.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Tips 5 </b><br />
Covert camera with on board storage. Most of the burglars will be off guard even takes off the mask after they believe the video surveillance system is disabled. A <a href="https://www.i4spycamera.com/product/smoke-alarm-camera/" target="_blank">covert camera</a> can capture the details of criminal. It is important to separate the covert camera from your regular CCTV system which always has NVR/DVR and a monitor, once the criminal manage to locate your recording device, they can discover all the monitor spots. Separate the covert camera from your CCTV system can protect the footage even after all the monitor spot are made out. Remember putting a TF memory card on the covert camera to record the footage. You still can connect your covert camera online, just don't connect to the CCTV system and don't display the live on the monitor. You can check the live and footage with smart phone over network.<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt2oI3i7Zb-Aa4K-PTuDxsL6egCHaSJ2bFnUgKlGJT2gcPTwMipw6CYzW5TCkwdgRR_KB63TPCbSE1ALWoQEr0mXE_5PcLOVmdjqSt4nDYFOhg6k4YPJRkq4zw768A3orqkk8xnk3eHW25/s1600/spy-camera-with-SD-card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt2oI3i7Zb-Aa4K-PTuDxsL6egCHaSJ2bFnUgKlGJT2gcPTwMipw6CYzW5TCkwdgRR_KB63TPCbSE1ALWoQEr0mXE_5PcLOVmdjqSt4nDYFOhg6k4YPJRkq4zw768A3orqkk8xnk3eHW25/s400/spy-camera-with-SD-card.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Tips 6</b><br />
UPS backup. The criminal may dis-connect your power. No devices can work without power. You can have ups to back up the whole CCTV system or simple mono ups attached to the cameras. In the second solution, the camera require on board storage. Enable the "network disconnected recording" trigger, the camera will start recording the footage when the network is disconnected.<br />

Recently, my friend left his country two weeks for holiday. When he returned, he found his CCTV system was disabled by the burglars. After that, the burglars took the safe box from his bed room. One of the key values of CCTV system is to deliver forensic evidence when something bad happens. What if the footage is just missing or your recorder is taken. You need a secondary recording system to make sure you critical data is available even the primary system is compromised. How can we back up recording in our CCTV?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggRcOPOTlKjkdrc3HoyGFaolr31fnz5MUJFfDlD-U8uhN0PPSoZK31fHVbh6WoARJei95z9Of8P346TLWMNoLQWHpC3BD-ddu8lprQ4fNyw-8UDgP5xcpo1sHOqenabQ27u1Q_DhTXD4fR/s1600/home+burglar.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggRcOPOTlKjkdrc3HoyGFaolr31fnz5MUJFfDlD-U8uhN0PPSoZK31fHVbh6WoARJei95z9Of8P346TLWMNoLQWHpC3BD-ddu8lprQ4fNyw-8UDgP5xcpo1sHOqenabQ27u1Q_DhTXD4fR/s1600/home+burglar.png" /></a></div>
<br />
<h4>
Recording in the cloud</h4>
You can choose cloud recording service for your cameras. Most of the cloud services require subscribing fee. You pay for the bill like you pay for your phone. Also, the cloud recording will eat the bandwidth as it needs to be always uploading the video or footage to the server.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo9dy3XfTVR8tnPhAmuzD4SNzG0jYz1VJejaOIK2UXsVj_lvCM6Ssr46GUyO-K0Gv7KAbbHtdBSx69Ck2n344m-Y9YglL_QDMUNDqXW90c8xLPRdKJUSh_F53_dAT8OmmeUtL8oThP4BZ8/s1600/cloud.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo9dy3XfTVR8tnPhAmuzD4SNzG0jYz1VJejaOIK2UXsVj_lvCM6Ssr46GUyO-K0Gv7KAbbHtdBSx69Ck2n344m-Y9YglL_QDMUNDqXW90c8xLPRdKJUSh_F53_dAT8OmmeUtL8oThP4BZ8/s400/cloud.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<h4>
On-board storage within camera</h4>
Some of the cameras have TF card slot which supports on-board storage. You can insert a TF memory card which is the same as the one you use in your smart phone. The camera will generate secondary recording inside the camera while it is streaming to your NVR. Image you have several cameras with on-board storage in the field. It is less possibility the criminal can completely destroy all your cameras in one. The on board storage is the effective solution to apply the secondary recording.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwvRtv9CNoeE0zM0ee05_zNLFKgQ1U_-VwM9HFTVpUTlPJGadUrvoHJT34Z8f7FQGqbIAnHpYIdWgT48T14bkV-NIPGQXiJbrgLqgfD6ScxBjFrjtZXTrS0PJlg3DzQ-dXYRpGzWx4MElm/s1600/SD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="303" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwvRtv9CNoeE0zM0ee05_zNLFKgQ1U_-VwM9HFTVpUTlPJGadUrvoHJT34Z8f7FQGqbIAnHpYIdWgT48T14bkV-NIPGQXiJbrgLqgfD6ScxBjFrjtZXTrS0PJlg3DzQ-dXYRpGzWx4MElm/s400/SD.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<h4>
FTP upload</h4>
If you have ftp server such as NAS device, you can configure the cameras to upload the image or video footage to your ftp server. Most of the cameras require trigger event to initiate the upload operation automatically, like motion detection. When the camera detects the object in the scene, it will take a snapshot and upload to your ftp server. The video upload needs TF card memory on board inside the camera, because the footage has to be created and storage in the memory card before uploading.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieyFrWmu70-6IEJxCIc2KJubW6_wZw2Dg7B28xZ5nFDmJmESNcX89Cf8nK8HhDRv7jil87qA2djX26JTSX_ss4jLumUrDjC6Rs2-EtsmXgbc3dcAFCH7LR4ogEvp0R7VuFqWH1jdLdz2QF/s1600/nas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="304" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieyFrWmu70-6IEJxCIc2KJubW6_wZw2Dg7B28xZ5nFDmJmESNcX89Cf8nK8HhDRv7jil87qA2djX26JTSX_ss4jLumUrDjC6Rs2-EtsmXgbc3dcAFCH7LR4ogEvp0R7VuFqWH1jdLdz2QF/s320/nas.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<h4>
<br />
Email backup</h4>
This is the economic solution to generate the backup. You can create email account to receive the image from your camera or NVR. One of the important things is you need to learn how many email your account allow to receive each day especially you are using the free email account. If your CCTV system keeps sending email every minutes, you could violate the policy and be blocked by your email service provider. You can set the time line to activate the email upload, for example activate email upload only from 8 am to 6 pm when the camera detects object in the field.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxbfRQA0R4AuGFAdoeyTVxGhuC6igQwC6j9grhSfiKNpzaif-uw5cQ7xFkg7LRqRBBPBsXd3Hb33jE4spyqgN_qfufohIK0N0vYkjGrt3iMPfykHRBW6z4ifBRk95NXBTp-dczm5x8m1lK/s1600/email.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxbfRQA0R4AuGFAdoeyTVxGhuC6igQwC6j9grhSfiKNpzaif-uw5cQ7xFkg7LRqRBBPBsXd3Hb33jE4spyqgN_qfufohIK0N0vYkjGrt3iMPfykHRBW6z4ifBRk95NXBTp-dczm5x8m1lK/s400/email.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<h4>
Covert Camera</h4>
You also can mix the covert camera with on board storage in your security system. This is the useful solution if the security system is existed. The covert camera will be working independent from your existing CCTV system. You can retrieve footage remotely with smart phone or PC software like your CCTV system, but the criminal may never know there is camera recording. In my friend's case, he may identify the burglars if there was covert camera in house.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/M9jYSN7ppGY" width="560"></iframe><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The video surveillance system is popular these days. Criminal could easily get a system and study how it works. It is time to think of how to secure your security system before they can easily crush it.<br />

<span lang="EN-US">Dedicated NVR is the video recording box with built-in embedded Linux system. Since the hardware platform is designed for dedicated video processing, it can achieve the cost-effective in video surveillance. There is no extra license fee for the software or operation system. However, the function of dedicated NVR is not versatile as pc based VMS. Today, the dedicated NVRs are popular especially in small project, due to simple maintain and easy-to-go operation. Can we deploy dedicated NVR for middle even large project? If the surveillance system doesn't require versatile function such as face recognition. The answer is properly yes. We just need some tricks.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">The dedicated NVR require each IP camera link back to one specific NVR, and those NVRs don't communicate each other. That means there no center server to know the status of all those cameras and NVRs. If you have 200-300 cameras on the field, you are going to deal with 7-10 independent NVRs plus the cameras separately.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">To knowing status of all those IP devices, we will need a server platform more than CMS (Clients management software). The server platform is the center server which can monitor the status of the IP device in real time. It doesn't like the CMS software, each of IP device will continue uploading the heart beat (status) to the platform server. Once the IP camera or NVR are off line even alarm is trigger, the platform sever will know immediately.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">Since each NVR is independent units, the operator needs several mouses on the table with name tag on each to control the NVR. This is very unconventional operation. The operator takes time to locate the NVR, find the mouse, move to the position and start control of that NVR, the operator could miss the critical event during the switch. The NVR switch can speed up this operation. All the NVR output link to a specific switch by VGA, and there is single output to a monitor from the switch. With the hot key on the keyboard, the operator can easy switch between different NVR units without leaving hands off the table. After that, the HDMI port from NVRs still can connect to one new monitor to build the TV wall.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">To make the control room clean and tidy, we may need rack mount solution. We can put all NVR units including the NVR switch into a rack housing. Maintain the proper temperature inside the rack case. This is simple but important trick to keep the system running for 24/7. The other thing is the power supply of dedicated NVRs. Choose the sever-based power supply instead of the low-cost ATX power. With reliable power and right temperature, the dedicated NVR will be very reliable.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Backup recording is necessary for all video system. It is easy to achieve with dedicated NVR. Simple plug a new dedicated NVR to the network and make the connection to the camera you can have your redundant recording. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In the practical deployment, it may have old analog camera with coax cable on the field. With Hybrid recorder or analog HD recorder, the coax can be reused and upgrade to HD video with minimum cost and reduce the business downtime. Both dedicated DVR and NVR will be monitored in the platform server.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">Dedicated solution always has cost
advantages but less versatile function. What to choose depends on the project
demands. Sometimes, we can even mix the VMS software into dedicated NVR to gain
advantage from both systems.</span></div>

When people approach in, it looks like ghost walking in my garden." The HD security IP camera or analog (TVI/AHD/CVI) are equipped with CMOS sensor which can do an excellent job during the day. However it doesn't perform well in low light condition. People choose CMOS sensor basing on the performance at day for the cost. CMOS is cheaper than CCD. Eventually, the performance at night is compromised.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0qTS1O2qAHlavIMgibkUvfRfdjresvuqKzv-6WbSovxr1ATo7MeBCz97c1i5BoyEADETMCdkRXFkpQ-Jnkm2bM9FFHL9Bpw-cFK8ptYpS7oJXLmBYzyblA12l5mJdrq2reLbK8Xnj8qmv/s1600/color-night-vision-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="335" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0qTS1O2qAHlavIMgibkUvfRfdjresvuqKzv-6WbSovxr1ATo7MeBCz97c1i5BoyEADETMCdkRXFkpQ-Jnkm2bM9FFHL9Bpw-cFK8ptYpS7oJXLmBYzyblA12l5mJdrq2reLbK8Xnj8qmv/s400/color-night-vision-4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
To improve the night vision, adding the Infrared LEDs to the camera is the first step. However, it doesn't help much, the infrared is still too weak to generate the fair image at night, then activating the frame accumulation (or slow shutter). This is the main reason cause the image fuzzy or (ghost). "Shutter speed can have a dramatic impact on the appearance and quality of photographs, especially when moving objects are involved" (Wikipedia) Let's take a example, when you walk from your garden to the living room, the camera should take 80 pictures, now the camera only takes 40 pictures in order to accumulated more illumination for each picture. The detail should be stay two separate picture, mix into one. The picture looks very good and bright if everything stay still. As long as you walk, you lost the details and see the ghost on the monitor. How can we fix it? After all, the criminal is not going to stand still and say hello to your camera.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZkHicxMHTronLBAJB20irWrGeF6AQli8RY9pN3xrbfjrPLZAMhrX49tOvz_QtgLsjlqLaUIRZtYlirmvBSKutYoBWINKfOjBSn83NjHdneoydFGXjEyxYcsFgsupSCn9FFVE6t0T9jCC9/s1600/ip-speed-dome-night-vision.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="363" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZkHicxMHTronLBAJB20irWrGeF6AQli8RY9pN3xrbfjrPLZAMhrX49tOvz_QtgLsjlqLaUIRZtYlirmvBSKutYoBWINKfOjBSn83NjHdneoydFGXjEyxYcsFgsupSCn9FFVE6t0T9jCC9/s640/ip-speed-dome-night-vision.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Firstly, don't choose the camera with low cost sensor. Even the low cost sensor can perform pretty well at day. The difference is the night vision capability. Pick up the camera with 1/3 inch even bigger size sensor. The bigger the size is, the better the night vision will be. Like human eyes, one person can see clearly if he or she has better vision capability.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifj1bOQMdjz5HJl1kZpiMyxkabAWbpSI5MQ5YR94kBZ3AdQvD2-QjrmaG6GPZCRx52gD00e9nM9uLHmF58tIxn9oiKX6-HGXMQU5cv72h_Y_RfFS_QoFkZ7DbnoJDSrjR7dlyEpSXSL9wO/s1600/coms.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifj1bOQMdjz5HJl1kZpiMyxkabAWbpSI5MQ5YR94kBZ3AdQvD2-QjrmaG6GPZCRx52gD00e9nM9uLHmF58tIxn9oiKX6-HGXMQU5cv72h_Y_RfFS_QoFkZ7DbnoJDSrjR7dlyEpSXSL9wO/s400/coms.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Disable the slow shutter. This can tell how well your camera performs at night. Find the camera setting. Disable the slow shutter. The image will become darker and higher frame per second (fps). Don't complain the darkness. No criminals will stand still under your camera. The ghost image doesn't deliver useful information for identification at all.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Add extra illuminators. It could be Infrared or visible lamp. The infrared can project further distance than visible light, however, you have to scarify the image's color details, because the infrared always affects the color reproduction of the camera, making the image looks over purple. Most of the camera will eliminate the color when it sees Infrared. The PIR lamp is another option especially when you have some existed street light. It can pop up unexpectedly and generates the deterrence when the criminal approach in. </div>

<span lang="EN-US">SONY have release new sensor which increase the sensitivity. It calls Starvis. People name this technology as moonlight, light fighter, starlight, or super low lux. This technology allocates the components to the button of the sensor in order to reserve more space for sensor in front. Most of these starvis camera are equipped with Infrared leds, which can ease the fuzzy issue, because the sensor just has better night vision capability. With IR illumination, it requires less slow shutter or frame accumulation to achieve the same performance. You will find the difference when you walk around in front the camera. Actually, the starvis can do even better than that, it can produce the color night vision if some of your installation spot has street light such as front door. The color image delivers much more information than black and white image. The camera is still equipped with Infrared LEDs in case it is too dark. However, it needs to postpone the switch point of Infrared and keep the camera working under color mode when the installation location has some street light. Normally, the regular IR camera just switch to black and white even it has significant light at night. The color night vision camera not only can deliver color image in low light conditions, but also can extend the use lift of the camera, because the camera has less time with Infrared on (heat issue). The below is compare between SONY starvis 291 and SONY EXMOR 322.</span></div>

<span lang="EN-US">If we look back about ten years ago, the
graphic compression card was dominating the CCTV industry. In a typical CCTV
system, it always had graphics card with PC computer, and all the coax cables
were wired back to the graphic card. We almost can’t find this kind of
application today. People use dedicated DVR/NVR instead of graphics card and PC-based
DVR. The operation of dedicated DVR/NVR is simple as set-top box, barely
require no technical skill to operate. However, the PC-based VMS (video
management software) is still having strong market share. Both VMS and
dedicated DVR/NVR can accomplish part of job which is similar, but they are not
the same.</span></div>

Both VMS software and dedicated DVR/NVR can get these job down. The dedicated DVR/NVR is more effective with these functions. Single dedicated NVR can handle 128-channel 1080p IP cameras. If we employ VMS software, it could take several powerful PC computers working together to build the system. Plus license fee for cameras and windows OS, the total cost could be triple up. However, the VMS is more versatile than dedicated DVR/NVR, most of the dedicated don't even have quick playback which is the standard function in VMS software.</span></div>

System Scale</h4>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US">The VMS is more suitable for middle or
large security system. It is center-server (CS) software structure. All the IP
cameras connect to a center server, and the core functions, such as recording,
video regeneration, are processing at the center server. The operator can
access the server with client software. It is easier to deploy distribution
structure to manage and record over thousands cameras with VMS software. The
dedicated DVR/NVR system requires each camera link to itself for recording and
display. Those DVR/NVRs doesn't communicate with each other. Somehow it is more
similar as many independent severs sitting on the desk. The operator needs to
access each of the servers to search the footage. One of the solution is we can
use NVR switch to manage multi NVRs on single station. It still doesn't put
dedicated DVR/NVR to communicate with each other, but it improves the
operator's accessing speed to each dedicated DVR/NVR unit.</span></div>

<span lang="EN-US">Video analysis is the weakness part for embedded DVR/NVR this moment. It is easy for VMS to perform the video analysis as long as PC server is powerful enough. Most dedicated NVR are still after cost-effective this moment, try to connect as much IP cameras as possible with maximize the CPU resource usage. I believe people will focus on video analysis in next step, especially the machine learning become mature. Training the NVR to classify the object could be a possible concept. For example, giving the NVR over millions different pictures of dogs, when the NVR receive a new pictures, it can tell it is a dog from otherwise. It seems the prediction is not so correct. The analog products are still showing the strong shipping today. To be fair, those HD analog are not the traditional technology which has limited resolution to 700tvl. The new analog technology, named TVI/AHD/CVI, can easily deliver 2 megapixel, even 4 megapixel resolution. What should we choose when we decide to upgrade our CCTV system? Let’s take a close look at the differences between those technologies.<br />
<br />
The new analog camera TVI/AHD/CVI can deliver high definition video in the coax cable up to 300 meters. That means you can use your existed coax cable to carry the HD video when you upgrade the system. Simply replacing old cameras and DVR (recorder) can make the job done. It is important to understand the DVR need to be replaced. This is quick and fast way to transfer your analog to HD video system.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV6bqQ9eE8wJRo6H3_fLF5zdcJI5ABFWl7KnHdxtDNm4tpElN1la6P5vnEt4Wu-D5H3aP1CbtvkuWAzqe9nuOvQNNeZjoDN9_UeOigeiqHLS8SkLFP78756UppSOs0vZ1uD9_LF3-Sg2GM/s1600/coax.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV6bqQ9eE8wJRo6H3_fLF5zdcJI5ABFWl7KnHdxtDNm4tpElN1la6P5vnEt4Wu-D5H3aP1CbtvkuWAzqe9nuOvQNNeZjoDN9_UeOigeiqHLS8SkLFP78756UppSOs0vZ1uD9_LF3-Sg2GM/s400/coax.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
How about the video quality? If we put one analog HD camera and one IP camera on the same monitor, we will find the picture quality is not the same, even both cameras have same image sensors and resolution. The IP camera receives the raw video from the image sensor and encode to H.264/H.265 immediately. However the analog needs to travel among with coax cable before it reach the recorder. This process creates a lots of signal loss. We can find the significant differences especially when we look at the footage.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinabz9X1Ql0P5uvNGAsQBrCfhypxonhUCRRzQf7Kdee9fOR3NlevgJbHaawzMezyN3hk7z7Fq63gK_RKBN-Ow42CNkxN0Nac7E8gAYWeU_zZ3S68GsqQ87yRPBl5aJzNMn1i7rCGQC8wHO/s1600/IP+VS+AHD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinabz9X1Ql0P5uvNGAsQBrCfhypxonhUCRRzQf7Kdee9fOR3NlevgJbHaawzMezyN3hk7z7Fq63gK_RKBN-Ow42CNkxN0Nac7E8gAYWeU_zZ3S68GsqQ87yRPBl5aJzNMn1i7rCGQC8wHO/s1600/IP+VS+AHD.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
HD analog did have one advantage – live view without delay. The analog camera doesn't need to involve any encoding process, but the IP camera need to decode in the camera and encode at the NVR, you will experience 150-200 millisecond delay with IP camera before you see the video on the monitor screen.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNsKCFYaOuVLZOHTPZ73H3X4oDUUK78XZj7DWdGcXuiOYQ9HB6pZCCPeS-ApLcpslDIW7lOqP41SrwbckHgRQ6WLuvx66LO8_WVOqqfV-KlZpkwAfncVDl5t1z82v8MK_GYZIWNwDF9RYY/s1600/IP-camera.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNsKCFYaOuVLZOHTPZ73H3X4oDUUK78XZj7DWdGcXuiOYQ9HB6pZCCPeS-ApLcpslDIW7lOqP41SrwbckHgRQ6WLuvx66LO8_WVOqqfV-KlZpkwAfncVDl5t1z82v8MK_GYZIWNwDF9RYY/s400/IP-camera.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
One of the conclusions that analog system is much safer than IP camera system is not true. Both systems have the same security level. As long as the hacker make themselves enter your recorder (no matter DVR and NVR), they can retrieve the video easily.<br />
<br />
What should we choose? It depends on the budget and the system scales. If it is the small system upgrade, like home surveillance system, employing HD analog is reasonable choice. You can replace the camera and recorder, reuse the existed coax. However, if it is the middle or large system, such as hotel, choose IP technology could save the total cost and business downtime. Image the owner just asks for some new cameras setup or relocate the existed cameras, analog structure always require point to point connection. You have to hard wire a coax cable from the camera to recorder which could generate serious business downtime and heavy labor cost. With network technologies, you can simple get the connection from the nearest switch and complete the job very soon. Besides, you also will impress your client with IP image quality.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2UorDqICA82GiLrekp5ANr5Yd8_zboyLo0uz_eN9igu4UpyXVkDHWedbfhnpd6YscFpNLWGTRZ0zAIUJh6V-aaEE2uJG8SPmGYdUCOFMCUHDDT8V-YlWeoE1CW6yb5rlt31nKcNe_Tgc-/s1600/installation.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2UorDqICA82GiLrekp5ANr5Yd8_zboyLo0uz_eN9igu4UpyXVkDHWedbfhnpd6YscFpNLWGTRZ0zAIUJh6V-aaEE2uJG8SPmGYdUCOFMCUHDDT8V-YlWeoE1CW6yb5rlt31nKcNe_Tgc-/s400/installation.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Can we still reuse the coax to upgrade with IP video? Yes. The simple solution is the hybrid recorder. You can upgrade part of the cameras with HD analog cameras, and the rest with IP cameras. When the system expands, you start from the IP camera. Some of the VMS software is also available with hybrid input, like Exacq and Difgifort. The DVR can work as the encoder to convert the HD analog video to IP. In this case, the coax is reserved for analog HD camera.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-noQjTG5gjM" width="560"></iframe><br /></div>
As we mention above, the image quality of analog HD is not good as the IP. If the image quality is critical to your client, you can employ EOC (Ethernet over Coax) to send the IP video. All the coax can be converted into the cable which is suitable to carry the network signal. You can replace the traditional analog camera to new IP camera in all the installation point. The power even can be sent over the coax up to 250 meters. Basically, the coax will be turn into network cable with EOC.<br />

"Can I add a new H.265 IP camera to my h.264 system?" We have been running some tests and found out this answer.<br />
<br />
The test system includes 4 units IP cameras (4-megapixel each), one NVR plus one 10/100mbps PoE switch. Each IP camera delivers two independent video stream - main stream and sub stream. The NVR was getting both streams to maximize the total bandwidth loading. It is important to install hard drive in the NVR, otherwise, the NVR only can receive single stream from each camera which reduces lots of bandwidth. The total bandwidth is like 4 persons use your network watching ultra high resolution movie at the same time. The data peak is always the challenge. If there is suddenly significant change on the scene, the data peak could impact the network transmission. We didn't see any delay or frame loss in the test.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IXo8ATJRJmo" width="560"></iframe><br /></div>
The second test is we streamed two units 4-megapixel IP camera to the NVR. the first camera used h.265; the second camera used h.264. Shooting at the same place, enable continuous recording on the NVR. We try to find out how much hard disk space saving from h.265 camera. This test also tells us we can simple add h.265 IP camera to h.264 system, but we need to select h.264 compression, making h.265 IP camera working at h.264 compression.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_hpyPqX7YD4" width="560"></iframe><br /></div>
The h.265 technology can save your space and keep more footage in the same hard driver. The scalable video compression is able to divide a single image to 64x64 blocks, instead of 16x16 blocks in h.264. Your existed network infrastructure can even feel the bandwidth increasing with H.265 IP camera. You just need to replace a new NVR which supports H.265 compression.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYxOwjSrqh0m79FIiMVhyphenhyphenu4Yf9B0-0iYKpEn6TPFocuKSenGDpC5MMWFd8SrSlS2O-Ww21K9uVmE_NWloNWinx3LGhxStDugI2d6HlL2TNU9AwTvSBk5NBMpywzWYIE3CvN9gs650KhHvH/s1600/h.264h.265.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYxOwjSrqh0m79FIiMVhyphenhyphenu4Yf9B0-0iYKpEn6TPFocuKSenGDpC5MMWFd8SrSlS2O-Ww21K9uVmE_NWloNWinx3LGhxStDugI2d6HlL2TNU9AwTvSBk5NBMpywzWYIE3CvN9gs650KhHvH/s1600/h.264h.265.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
We find out it has one issue working with H.265 technology today. You will experience the issue when you watch the h.265 video on your PC or mobile. The PC industry still doesn't support hardware decoding h.265 yet. It means displaying H.265 video is going to eat a lot of CPU recourse. Fortunately, most of IP camera can deliver two independent video streams at the same time. You can select main stream in H.265 for recording in NVR, and select sub stream in H.264 for PC or mobile display. This solution compromises the remote monitoring a little bit, low down to 720p or D1. However, when you watch multi channel in the same monitor, it doesn't tell much different. More important, you have your footage recordings with best details. Intel has plans to release next generation CPU with h.265 support. After then, you can watch high resolution h.265 video in computer. The powerful CPU is always required to display multiple channel High definition video, like what we need for H.264 today.<br />
<br />
H.265 technology is the trend. I remember my roommate showed me a piece of h.264 video clip demo 10 years ago in the university. In that time, the mainstream technology was MPEG. i was impressed by the image quality over the files size, only 8MB around, similar size as two song in MP3. Today, I think the tip point could be moving faster, because the h.265 technology is ready in IP camera before the PC industry.<br />

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">When we mention covert camera or hidden camera, it always reminds of the "spy" purpose. However, people are applying covert cameras to broader applications these days, such as facial capturing. With proper setup on the eye level position, covert camera can capture facial detail, like ATM camera, height strip camera. In the area with high crime rate, a covert camera can deliver value forensic evidence. Burglars may avoid the CCTV cameras' shooting angle and find out your recorder. Once they grab your NVR, you lose all the evidence. Mixing a covert camera to CCTV system will increase the system's reliability. You still have your footage in the memory card within the covert camera even the primary recording system is destroyed.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Night vision is one of the important functions if you want your covert camera to play as primary surveillance device. Otherwise the camera will turn into blind at night. However, night vision is a big challenge especially for covert cameras. Most of covert cameras are equipped with 3.7mm pinhole lens. Only few lights can pass thru the pinhole lens. Some hidden camera has been added with several invisible LEDs to improve night vision. This solution doesn't help much, because the invisible LEDs only generate around 60% power of visible LEDs. That means it needs a lots of LEDs to produces the fair image at night. Built in too many LEDs will shorten the use life of covert camera and affect the CMOS sensor's performance. If you find your image is over brightness at night without objects scratch, the heat causes the problem. Covert cameras are hidden inside a small space or plastic housing, which makes the heat issue even more serious.</span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">How to improve the night vision of covert camera? First of all, you needs quality sensor to capture more light at night. Like human eye, one person can see clearly if he or she has better visual capability. Choose the camera with 1/3 CMOS instead of 1/4 CMOS. The bigger the sensor's size is, the more light the camera can capture.</span></span></div>

Some covert cameras are equipped with IR filter to eliminate the infrared which will damage the cameras' color reproduction. Cut the infrared completely only solve the issue at day, however it makes the camera blind to infrared at night. You need the camera with true day and night functionality which will cut the infrared at day and see the Infrared at night. The camera also needs to understand the difference between the infrared and the visible light. Otherwise the camera will keep switching back when it saw infrared at night. With true day and night functionality, you can add<u><a href="https://www.i4spycamera.com/product/940nm-illuminator/" target="_blank"> external invisible infrared LEDs</a></u> or getting the IR from your existed camera to have very good night vision.</span></div>

Situational awareness is the perception of environmental elements and events with respect to time or space<span style="font-size: xx-small;">(1)</span>, In CCTV industry, it means you can learn the whole story in the real-time monitoring and footage playback instead of many discrete video spot.<br />
<br />
Situational awareness is such important in video surveillance. Image you are driving the car on the road, holding high situational awareness allows you not only focusing on other cars around but also knowing the surrounding situations such as barrier at rail crossing, passers-by who might crush into your drive way in a sudden. Raising situational awareness is beneficial for the instant react to dangers and threats. It is also playing an important role in identifying criminal behavior in the investigations. Even after criminals occur, offering integral evidence is more efficient in restoring the event for forensics.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ4cdBArk2XTXdD9VVwHvazxTweFan6MtaYPlRjK9M4cos2VSODf9UDtrkTUlIEZHtEXKiUQl8sf2pe3RFL9e1OJR98vMBzzKdrFcVitD2Vz-nnJ5ujngqfOONpybyC2tOW_nnycKCwpMA/s1600/eye.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ4cdBArk2XTXdD9VVwHvazxTweFan6MtaYPlRjK9M4cos2VSODf9UDtrkTUlIEZHtEXKiUQl8sf2pe3RFL9e1OJR98vMBzzKdrFcVitD2Vz-nnJ5ujngqfOONpybyC2tOW_nnycKCwpMA/s320/eye.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Multi-sensor camera is the camera with several sensors built-in. It can increases situational awareness dramatically with its flexible wide area coverage and high pixel density. Let's take a simple test, close one of your eyes and look around, you will find your awareness drop down sharply. It is because you lost part of your vision with single eye. Multi-sensor camera can generate the surrounding video by putting several sensors together. The pixel density is another critical element. It tells how much pixel per meter (PPM). Similar as flood control with sandbags on the dam. The more sandbag, the more strong the dam can stand the flood, here it is more detail the image can deliver. Multi sensor maintain high pixel density and it doesn't compromise the image quality to generate continuous video of the sense.<br />

You may ask why not fisheye or VR camera, it does cover 360 degree with no blind spot. However, the fisheye or VR camera allocates the limited pixel to the whole 360 degree area which make the density very low. It is proper solution for monitoring the general activities around specific area. The PTZ camera is the opposite case, you are able to receive extremely high pixel density image when the camera zoom in, think of you can put all 2-megapixel to a small gate. The problem is you always need to take the risk of missing incident occurred on one place when the camera is pointing another.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmaRBdO5cFdFlguRTzIAlfDXAYr-NFBEY3Fgbkpt9wyZTDbWOlUWktZBiVE5GNBebkIiJ5iOgFPBgI0aEmJQhYqjQo9zAINXRJlDNh5Ao4P0MVD9Et1lDKSs_rx0vtHsyReTsBtoBP_q_7/s1600/fisheye+camera.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="fisheye camera allcocates limited pixel to wide area" border="0" height="353" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmaRBdO5cFdFlguRTzIAlfDXAYr-NFBEY3Fgbkpt9wyZTDbWOlUWktZBiVE5GNBebkIiJ5iOgFPBgI0aEmJQhYqjQo9zAINXRJlDNh5Ao4P0MVD9Et1lDKSs_rx0vtHsyReTsBtoBP_q_7/s640/fisheye+camera.png" title="180 degree fisheye camera" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There are different designs of multi sensor camera. Some cameras allow user to configure the shooting direction even change the lens, such as ArecontVision, GOLBONG. The user can manually configures the sensors to view 180/270/360 degree. Some have PTZ camera built-in plus 360 degree view, the coverage and shooting direction is not configurable, such as Axis, Vivotek. The operator can select the area from the panoramic image and the PTZ camera will zoom in automatically. One of the practical issue is how to record the multi-sensor camera. Once you have deployed several multi-sensor cameras on the field, the recording system is pretty headache. You need powerful PC plus VMS software. The simple solution will be connecting those multi-sensor cameras to conventional NVR which allow you to quickly setup the system and impress your customer with continuous video of the sense. The motion recording on the NVR even can save a lot of search time to find the interested footages.<br />

Multi-sensor camera can deliver the situational awareness enhancement video and bring great ROI to the users.<br />
